Disturb us, Lord

I head home to the Georgia mountains tomorrow.

In some ways, I am ready to return - to see my Husband, family, and friends. But, overwhelmingly, I want to stay here in Poland.

The need still so great. The opportunity to love one another through acts of service still abounds in spades . . . and I have more to give.

I don’t know why the cause of the Ukrainian people amplifies so loudly over my heart, but, what I do know, is that I will continue to listen and act.

For each of you who made a donation, whispered a prayer, or thought a happy thought in support of our efforts - THANK YOU. It’s because of you that we were able to steward over $30,000 of aid these last 3 weeks directly to the Ukrainian people:

  • $12,000 for 6 TONS of food delivered to Ukrainians in hard hit areas like Kharkiv, Chernihiv, etc.

  • $11,000 in tactical aid and medicine in direct support of the TDF

  • $7,000 in humanitarian aid and transport for people displaced within Ukraine

  • $1,200 in other financial assistance to Ukrainian refugees

This financial and tangible aid have been literal lifelines for some Ukrainian people, so thank you.

As we look to the future, there is still great work to be done. Developing a reliable network of long-term funding and support is a top priority, along with a return trip in May or June to facilitate more direct aid. If you are interested in being a part of our efforts, please donate. 100% goes directly to our efforts in support of the Ukrainian people in Poland and those who remain in Ukraine.

With expectant hope at what is to come, together.

Lauren

P.S. This is one of my favorite poems. May it embolden us to act, individually and collectively, today and always.

Disturb us, Lord, when

We are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true

Because we have dreamed too little,

When we arrived safely

Because we sailed too close to the shore.

.

Disturb us, Lord, when

With the abundance of things we possess We have lost our thirst

For the waters of life;

Having fallen in love with life,

We have ceased to dream of eternity

And in our efforts to build a new earth,

We have allowed our vision

Of the new Heaven to dim.

.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,

To venture on wider seas

Where storms will show your mastery; Where losing sight of land,

We shall find the stars.

We ask You to push back

The horizons of our hopes;

And to push into the future

In strength, courage, hope, and love.
